Hang Son Doong, located in the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park of Central Vietnam's Quang Binh Province, is renowned as the largest cave passage in the world. Discovered in 1991 by local resident Ho Khanh, the cave gained international recognition when it was fully explored and mapped in 2009 by a British expedition team led by Howard and Deb Limbert. Son Doong Cave's dimensions are awe-inspiring, with a main passage stretching over 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) in length, reaching heights of up to 200 meters (660 feet) and widths of around 150 meters (490 feet). The cave's vast chambers, including the "Hand of Dog" stalagmite and the towering limestone formations of the "Great Wall," showcase nature's immense power and beauty. Exploring Son Doong is a challenging adventure, requiring trekking through rugged jungle terrain and crossing underground rivers. Visitors on guided tours can witness the cave's unique ecosystem, complete with lush vegetation and an underground river.
